Sicily Cycle
An exhilarating cycle through rural and cultural eastern Sicily, crossing the UNESCO World Heritage listed region of Noto.
Following the vestiges of ancient times, this tour combines the discovery of beautiful unspoilt areas, such as Cavagrande where deep gorges have been created by a river and Vendicari, a protected white sand beach where many different species of birds build their nests, with visits to ancient Sicilian towns.
Syracuse was the leading city of Magna Grecia, then it underwent Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Swabian, Angevin and Spanish rule. It is now home to a charming mixture of people and outstanding monuments, some of which are still in use, such as the Greek Theatre.
There are daily highlights as you cycle through the countryside to fascinating towns such as Palazzolo Acreide with its ancient theatre, and Ragusa Ibla, with its unique baroque architecture emphasized by the natural beauty of the rose colour of the stone reflected in the buildings.
