Sauze D’Oulx SuperEnduro 2012 MTB Racing Holiday

5 Days riding in two of the finest lift assisted bike parks in Italy, including an epic race in the exhilarating SuperEnduro.

The SuperEnduro

Marking a new era in mountain biking, the Superenduro race is not a cross country or downhill competition, but a race designed around the riding that we all love to do. Think of it as tough trail riding, using the kind of bike that most riders own. If you love messing about on challenging trails with your mates, you will love the atmosphere and trails of the SuperEnduro format. The Superenduro race takes place over a weekend on a circuit marked with a variable number of timed special stages, mostly downhill, but with a few timed climbs thrown in for good measure. This new concept favours all-round riders, so you will see World Cup downhillers lining up shoulder to shoulder with XC whippets, and although the front runners are competing for the top spots, most folk are there for the excellent atmosphere and great trails.

The ranking of each competitor is derived from the sum of their times in the special stages, riding time between stages is not timed, however there are lenient time limits imposed for each competitor to ensure everyone gets round in time.

Number for the race are strictly limited to 400 riders so get in early to avoid disappointment.

The racing holiday

So you can get the most out of your SuperEnduro experience, we will be a running a 5 day fully supported racing itinerary. We will transfer you and your bike to your accommodation, provide all uplifts leaving you to enjoy 3 days of lift assisted riding, then 2 days of excellent racing on amazing trails. We will sort out all your race registrations and ensure you are in the right place at the right time, all you have to do is enjoy the fabulous event.

In order to give you the ultimate biking holiday, we have based the holiday in Bardonecchia, a short drive from Sauze d’Oulx, but right by the lifts of the extensive Alpi Bike Park. There is an extensive network of trails to check out in the Alpi Bike park located right on your doorstep, arguably one of Europe’s most famous lift assisted bike parks. With over 400km of tracks and trails cutting through the stunning scenery of the Italian Alps, the park has been designed to appeal to all kinds of riders with extensive downhill, freeride and cross country trails. The park tops out at 3009m providing masses of descent to carve those turns on, and 49 signposted tracks mean you won’t get lost. We include all lift passes for the park so all you have to do is ride to the lift and shred the trails.

On Saturday and Sunday we will uplift you and your bikes on a short 25 minute drive to the Sauze d’Oulx bikepark for the awesome SuperEnduro event. 2 Lifts serve perfectly sculptured trails, using natural feature’s to enhance flow and maintain rhythm, the gradient of the mountain is gentle so you can pump the trails and not be hauling the brakes. Sauze d’Oulx has some great floaty jumps and Northshore sections, with a great freeride park, but the trails are predominantly flowing and fast with the odd optional rooty technical section, the perfect place for a SuperEnduro.

Accommodation Details

You will stay comfortable 4 bedroomed apartment, situated just a short ride from the lifts, with a secure bike room, comfortable sofas and a host of the best MTB DVD’s to draw inspiration from. The apartment has 3 balconies, and we will set up a workshop in the bike room with a quality Park bike stand and full tools to keep your bike in race trim.
