Mountain Biking with Powder N Shine!

The French Alps offer some of the best mountain biking in Europe, suited for all abilities. The use of lifts opens up a fantastic network of man-made and natural fire road single track terrains for the downhill mountain bike enthusiasts, beginners and other cross-country lovers.

The beautiful Belleville Valley is a French Cycling Federation Area and has 21 MTB itineraries in Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Saint Martin de Belleville covering 120km of mountainous terrain. You will find yourself riding along picturesque river edges and mountain slopes, to the resorts and villages of the area - including a few ridges if you dare.

There are different levels to suit all abilities, so you are free to take a ride with your family or friends along the stunning trails that are clearly mapped out and lots of fun! The scenery is spectacular, and if the weather suits, there's nothing better than having a picnic and quick sunbathe in the fresh Alpine air.

Spending a week as a beginner on a mountain bike is exceptionally rewarding and satisfying knowing how much you are improving on a day to day basis.

For those of you that love your downhill biking, then there are numerous tracks and routes available - all of which can be reached by the open chair lifts.

Bike Hire

For those not bringing their own equipment, there are plenty of places to book your bike hire and relevant kit - helmets, guards etc.

If you do have your own bike, then bring it with you if at all possible! If you are driving over, then it is fairly easy to transport your bike. If you are planning to fly, most airlines will alllow you to check in your bike as oversized luggage. Each carrier has differing rules and regulations. Most airlines require you to package your bike in a bikebag or box your bike.

Accommodation Details

Flocon Des Neiges is a traditional, wooden built chalet filled with character and charm. Steve and Francesca have made Flocon Des Neiges into a homely and cosy chalet so that you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, providing catered chalet accommodation in Reberty Village, Les Menuires.

On the first floor you will find the large living area, with a beautiful central fireplace allowing everyone to benefit from the fire. There is a large kitchen on this level where Francesca will be preparing the 'Dine N Wine' experience for you every evening, except on her day off! You will also find one double room, and one family room (a double room with a separate room with bunk beds); on the second floor there are a further four twin rooms and on the third floor, there is one twin room, and one family room (a large twin room, with an adjoining single room). The third floor has slightly lower ceilings, so it is suggested that those who are taller than 6ft remain on the first/second floors.

All bedrooms have been named after local wines. Powder N Shine are passionate about food and wine, and support the local communities by focusing on local produce - food, wine and cheese.

3VTT - Trois Vallées Tout Terrain - 11th Edition 2010 (July 3rd and July 4th)

There is a 'free bike competition' in the Three Valleys on Saturday July 3rd. You can start in any of the Three Valley station including Les Menuires, Val Thorens, La Tania, Meribel, Courchevel and Brides les Bains. It is 20km of pure fun and is suitable for all. For those interested in taking part, it is advised to sign up early as there are only 450 places available and it is first come first serve. Click here to learn more.

Mountain Bike Belleville Tour (July 12th - July 16th 2010)

This consists of mountain bike races of 4km-6km a day connecting the villages of the Belleville Valley. To learn more please click here

La Mountain Bike Les Menuires / Val Thorens (July 24th - 25th 2010)

This involves the French Cup Marathon and various routes to discover the Belleville valley according to your levels.

This consists of 2 races:

A 127km race - with 3250m of height difference
An 80km race - with 1750m of height difference
