Roaring 40's is owned and operated by Kim Brodlieb and Ian Balmer. If you've spoken to Kim you'll know she's no local, but rest assured she comes to Tasmania with a vast background in outdoor pursuits. She holds a degree in Environmental Education and has worked for Outward Bound, the New Hampshire Conservation Corporation, the Caribbean Conservation Corporation and the Sierra Club where she met Ian in 1992.

Ian is a Tassie local, but he has spent many years pursuing adventure in and outside Tasmania! As a Marine Communications technician, Ian was a member of 5 expeditions to Antarctica with Greenpeace and has also spent several years of living and working in the Australian Outback. Kim and Ian, both avid recreational sea kayakers, founded Roaring 40's Kayaking in 1996.

At Roaring 40's you can choose your own level of participation; learn the latest paddling techniques in one of our lessons or clinics, join a guided trip that suits your desires and schedule or rent a kayak and simply experience the local serenity.
